POLYURETHANE INSULATION

Polyurethane Spray Foam is a highly effective form of insulation in all buildings. Expanding on application, polyurethane foam seals small cracks and forms a barrier on the applied area. Spray foam insulation provides a complete air seal, not only providing warmth in winter, but quieter homes and environmentally friendly insulation.

Polyurethane insulation has some of the highest recorded R-values (thermal resistance) because of its ability to completely seal wall cavities, preventing any air from penetrating the building. It will retain its R-value for much longer than other types of insulation because it blocks moisture and won’t allow mould to grow in it. It also makes for an effective sound barrier because of its gap free application and the total coverage that helps to buffer the beams so that they don’t vibrate as much. Because there are no small particles, there is an environmental and health benefit to using foam insulation, as it cannot be breathed in and it does not pollute like fiberglass does.

Polyurethane insulation can also increase the structural integrity of a home as it is highly adhesive, acting as a glue. Most traditional, factory made insulation materials suffer a reduction in actual performance due to poor installation leaving spaces or gaps between building materials and the insulation.

Spray foam is sprayed into cavities and can inflate to 100 times its original volume. It will expand and contract with the building, maintaining the closed gaps and will stop any air leaks.
